Russia’s pay-TV market is likely to be worth $940 million (€675 million) by the end of this year, or 14% more then in 2009, according to J’son and Partners Consulting.
The results of its latest study into the market, published by Comnews, also show that the pay-TV subscriber base in Russia is likely to grow by 13% to 16.3 million this year due to strong demand for non-terrestrial TV as a relatively inexpensive form of entertainment.
J’son and Partners list the top six players in the Russian pay-TV market as Tricolor TV (4.6 million subscribers), Comstar-UTS (2.1 million), ER-Telecom (1.1 million), Multiregion (750,000), NTV-Plus (650,000) and Svyazinvest (510,000).
