Croatia has joined the small but growing number of countries in Central and Eastern Europe that has completed the transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting.
MPortal reports that the last ‘digital region’, known as D4 and including the city of Zagreb and environs, went entirely digital this Tuesday (October 5), ending a process that began on January 26 this year.
This saw Croatia split into nine ‘digital regions’, with the first to switch off its analogue transmitters being D5.
Croatia currently has two national DTT multiplexes (A and B) broadcasting an almost identical line-up of channels, though this will change with the launch of the national channel RTL-2 and Doma TV.
It will soon also see the launch of another multiplex (DTT) allocated to local and regional services, along with new national channels.
