The number of broadband subscribers in Russia grew by 5.5% to 15.7 million in the second quarter, according to data produced by IKS-consulting and published by ER-Telecom, one of the country’s leading cable operators.
The top 10 providers of broadband services, headed by Comstar, claimed a combined market share of 60%.
Comstar’s broadband subscriber total as of the end of Q2 stood at 1,362,000, while ER-Telecom was in fourth place with 1,100,600. However, Svyazinvest enjoyed the biggest growth in the quarter, due largely to the fact that it faces little competition from FTTx operators in the rural areas and small cities it operates in.
Separately, ER-Telecom has announced that it has completed the integration of 14 regional subsidiaries into a single entity.
It also says that as of the beginning of August it had 1,020,000 TV, 1,113,000 internet and over 91,000 telephony subscribers.
