The Polish commercial broadcaster Polsat is unlikely to launch what will be its first news-based sports channel until the country completes the transition to digital broadcasting.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, Marian Kmita, the head of sport at Polsat, said this was to ensure the widest possible reach for the channel, to be named Polsat Sport News.
He added that the company has no plans at present to launch another HD sports channel – Polsat currently operates four sports channels, one of which is in HD – due to insufficient content in the format.
Poland is expected to complete its transition to digital broadcasting in 2013.
