Eutelsat’s financial results for the year ended June 30, 2010 show that the company surpassed all its targets, achieving record growth of over 11%.
Revenues for the year amounted to €1,047.2 million, an 11.3% increase on the corresponding period ended June 30 last year, while EBITDA was up by 11.5% to €827.8 million and the group share of net income by 9% to €269.5 million.
Video applications accounted for the majority (71.1%) of Eutelsat’s income and were, at €742 million, 9.2% higher than a year earlier. They were boosted by the renewal and extension of existing contracts for the premium Hot Bird neighbourhood with leading pay-TV operators such as Sky Italia and a sharp increase (20.7%) in the number of TV channels serving the Second Continent.
In total, Eutelsat was broadcasting 3,662 channels as of June 30, up 14.8% year-on-year.
HD channels were a major factor for this growth, their number growing by 80% to reach 155. Of these, 61 targeted Western Europe and 94 the Second Continent.
