Orange added 34% to its installed base of digital TV customers in the year to June 30, 2010. France Telecom’s satellite and IPTV delivered service added more than 900,000 new customers to reach 3,579,000 new customers across the group.
France remains the lynchpin of the TV operations with 3,051,000 subscribers from 2,339,000 in 2009. The Orange Sport and Orange Cinema Series channels, currently the subject of merger talks with rival Canal+, had 752,000 subscribers. This compares with 393,000 a year earlier.
The VOD service had 5.3 million paid requests in the first half of 2010, a 48% increase on 2009.
Poland reported 453,000 TV subscribers, or 89% more than the 239,000 posted a year earlier.
