The take-up of pay-TV continues to grow steadily in Spain, with 4,104,216 subscribers receiving services as of the end of Q1, according to data published by the regulator CMT.
Sogecable (43.8%) claimed the lion’s share of the total, followed by ONO (23.6%), Telefónica (17.8%), GolTV (4.6%), TeleCable (3.3%) and Euskatel (2.3%). The number of mobile TV subscribers at the end of Q1 meanwhile stood at 362,990, split between Movistar (70.7%), Vodafone (25.0%) and Orange (4.3%).
Revenues from the pay-TV sector in Q1 2010 amounted to €394.23 million, with Sogecable accounting for almost 67% of the total.
They were slightly down on the Q4 2009 total (€404.82 million) but significantly lower than those in Q1 2009 (€519.49 million).
