The Romanian Ministry of Communications and Information (MCSI) would like to grant the licence for what will be the country’s third DTT multiplex without a tender.
ZF reports that MCSI has prepared a draft resolution that would result in the National Radiocommunications Company (SNR) securing the licence by August 1 at the latest and for a fee of €1 million. However, the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) has apparently rejected the resolution.
A tender for the first two DTT multiplexes will be held shortly, with the winners announced no later than October 15.
The MCSI believes the SNR is well placed to operate a multiplex as it already has an infrastructure allowing for the national distribution of the public channels TVR1 and TVR2.
