Romania’s leading cable and DTH operator RCS/RDS has raised the prices of all its services. According to ZF, it has done so in order to reflect an increase in VAT from 19-24%. Indeed, when this is factored in to its new fees, they have effectively risen by a nominal amount.
Separately, ZF also reports that the incumbent telco Romtelecom has launched a new promotional package aimed at SMEs. Available until the end of August, it offers voice, internet access at up to 6 Mbps and a wi-fi modem for €9.99 a month excluding VAT, or 60% less than the current list price.
Romtelecom competes intensely for clients in the sector with both RCS/RDS and UPC.
