The Chinese news agency Xinhua has officially launched its international 24 hour English language news channel CNC World. The channel has been broadcasting test transmissions for the past few weeks.as reported in Broadband TV News.
“To offer a better view of China to its international audiences, CNC World will produce extensive and in-depth TV programmes on China news,” according to the Xinhua news agency. “Enabled by its vast global presence, including branches in more than 130 nations and regions, Xinhua is the first international news agency to run a television news network.”
The parent organization of CNC is the Xinhua News Agency, which “is striving to build a modern, comprehensive news media group, comprising wire services, newspapers, websites, economic information services, databases and search engines, cellphone and mobile network services, and television.”
“The media industry is now undergoing sweeping changes,” said Xinhua president Li Congjun in an opening ceremony in Beijing on Thursday, July 1. “The rapid growth of new media poses daunting challenges for traditional media organisations. Thus Xinhua has embarked on a strategic restructuring, and a television network is an integral part of it,” he said.
CNC World broadcasts to the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, North America and Africa by satellite, cable, mobile phone and the internet.

"In an industry that experiences rapid change and often a confusing subsequent
constant supply of news, it is often refreshing to read an insightful perspective. Broadband
