MTG confirms pan-Nordic Premier League

TV2 Sport, the joint venture between Modern Times Group (MTG) and Denmark’s TV2, is to launch of a dedicated channel to provide coverage of the Premier League over the next three years.

It means that following Viasat’s earlier acquisition of the English Premier League rights in Sweden and agreement to carry the three TV2 HD channels in Norway, the Viasat will be the only platform to hold the rights across Scandinavia.

TV 2 Sport Premier League will broadcast in SD and HD versions and launch on the Viasat satellite platform and third party IPTV networks in Denmark on August 13. It will transmit 24/7 and provide coverage of all 380 matches during the Premier League season.

The channels will be included in existing HD and SD subscription packages.

Although Canal Digital Norway has announced an agreement with TV2 Norway; Canal Digital Finland has maintained its Premier League coverage through Canal+, while Canal Digital Denmark has the Premier League through a deal with Kanal 6.
