The Netcity project under which a fibre-optic network is being constructed in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, will grow another 70km by the end of this month.
According to ZF, the project, which has been the subject of much controversy, is being undertaken in three phases, with completion set for 2012. Investment is coming entirely from the private sector and has been estimated at €200 million.
Bucharest has until now been served by overhead cables.
