From June 1st, NonStop Televisions channels Star!, Showtime and Silver will be available for viewers in Kenya and Uganda.
The channels will launch on the regions new DTT service Smart TV, a platform which offers both pay-TV service and free-to-air service of existing local stations on the Digital Terrestrial Television network. The TV platform is operated by a Swedish multinational company called Next Generation Broadcasting (NGB).
“It is exciting to start broadcasting in Kenya and Uganda. Our expansion in Africa is taking place faster than expected and our channels have been received very well since we first launched them in South Africa in May,” said Ignas Scheynius, CEO at NonStop Television, in a statement.
NonStop Television works together with distribution agent Tim Smart from Medge Consulting in Africa and launched this spring in South Africa and Ghana. Further launches in Nigeria and West Africa are planned in August 2010.
