The Czech president Vaclav Klaus has signed off an amendment to the country’s Act on electronic communications.
According to Digizone, the amendment, which was approved by the Senate in the second half of April, does away with provisions under which one operator could run two or more electronic communications networks and also be the operator of a radio or TV station.
It could have implications on the incumbent telco Telefónica O2, which may have its right to operate the fourth DTT multiplex taken away by the Czech Telecommunications Office (CTU).
The multiplex, which potentially reaches 70% of the population, is arguably being underused by the telco.
