Hungary assesses DTT progress

Although the transition to digital broadcasting in Hungary is proceeding according to plan, around 800,000 TV homes will still need set-top boxes when ASO is completed at the end of next year.

The figure was given by Krisztina Rozgonyi, the heads of the National Communications Authority (NHH), and quoted in BBJ.

Zsolt Kozma, NHH’s director overseeing digital infrastructure, meanwhile said that DTT coverage will be increased from the current 88% to 95% of the country by the end of the year.

Almost two thirds (62%) of Hungarian homes receive cable or IPTV services, with the remainder opting for DTH or DTT.
