German cable lifts HD credentials

HD channels from ProSiebenSat.1 are to launch on German cable, but only on the smaller Tele Columbus network. The Hannover-based network is adding ProSieben HD, Sat.1 HD and Kabel Eins HD to its DigitalTV Basic bouquet. Channels from Germany’s public service broadcasters ARD and ZDF have been present for some time.

“With the HD channels from ProSiebenSat.1 our customers experience one of the leading German TV offers unsurpassed in quality, accessibility and reliability,” said Dietmar Schickel, CEO, Tele Columbus Group.

Simin Lange, Head of Distribution ProSiebenSat.1 Media, added that the launch of its HD channels on cable marked an important step forward for the company. “The agreement for the supply of high-resolution general-interest channels ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabel Eins secures future reach and for the first time gives us an important distribution channel through cable for our HD content”
