The rollout of DVB-H services in Poland has run into difficulties, with the licence holder Info-TV-FM still unable to reach agreement with the country’s mobile operators.
However, quoted in Wirtualne Media, Albert Kuzmicz, the president of Info-TV-FM’s owner NFI Magna Polonia, said he believed the impasse would be over in the second half of this year.
Info-TV-FM beat off a rival bid from a consortium of Poland’s mobile companies to secure a mobile TV licence in March last year. It has since launched a trial service that reaches a potential 5.5 million people in 11 cities, though the plan is to have a commercial operation available in 31 cities by the end of next year.
The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) is monitoring the situation.
