French owners of LG Blu-ray players and home cinema sets will be able to directly access the Canalplay VOD library of Canal+ and play them over their regular TV set.
As of May 5, all owners of Blu-ray and Blu-ray Home Cinema sets from LG Electronics will be able to access over 8,000 VOD titles, including 4,000 recent films, cult programmes and numerous TV series, the two companies announced.
“You just need to have a broadband connection and link the player or home cinema set to a modem (wired or wireless) in order to to select and order a movie, a TV series or a programme of your choice,” a statement said.
So far, the connectivity only applies to the Blu-ray players and home cinema sets, not to the regular LG TV sets. The agreement is an exclusive deal between canal+ and LG Electronics and resembles a similar deal between TF1 and Samung (see Broadband TV News passim)
