The Belarusian incumbent telco Beltelecom plans to launch a DTT service at the end of this year.
Quoted by AKTR, its deputy DG Gennady Melnikov said that the service would be the company’s next step after it has developed its IPTV offer. He added that 80% of people in rural areas and 15% of the population of Belarus as a whole are potential DTT users.
The service, branded ‘Zala’, will initially cover 60% of the country and offer viewers up to 30 TV channels. Its coverage will rise to 95% by 2015.
