Last Sunday, UPC Nederland presented the first live 3D broadcast from the Augusta Masters Golf Tournament.
The broadcast was played out from the Digital Media Centre in Amsterdam on Chellomedia’s Sport1 channel. It is the first of a series of experimental 3D broadcasts by the cabler.
During the presentation Ivo Lochtman,VP content UPC, said he hopes to add the three SBS Broadcasting channels SBS6 HD, Net 5 HD and Veronica HD to the HD line-up soon, but failed to name a date. The cabler does not want to confirm speculation that MTVN HD,. VRT een HD and BBC HD could soon be added.
In the picture is UPC Nederland’s general manager Diederik Karsten with former football internationals Bryan Roy and Aaron Winter watching the live coverage. During the presentation Karsten said UPC is looking to acquire 3D rights to a number of sporting events such as the Roland Garros grand slam tennis tournament and the 2010 FIFA World Cup football.
