The Czech/Slovak pre-pay DTH platform Skylink now has one million active cards. According to Parabola, the landmark figure was reached on Tuesday (April 6) this week.
Skylink is operated jointly by TradeTec (Czech Republic) and Towercom (Slovakia). Distributed by Astra at 23.5 degrees East and 19.2 degrees East, its service is available throughout both countries, with the breakdown of active cards now being 715,000 in the Czech Republic and 285,000 in Slovakia.
Skylink is now the most popular platform in both countries, where it faces competition from UPC Direct, Digi TV and CS Link.
HD services are becoming an increasingly important selling point for the platform and as of Q1 this year almost one in four (24%) active cards allowed for the reception of channels in the format.
