IPTV provider Belgacom TV is experimenting with 3D recording of the Belgian national football league, the Jupiler Pro League. In cooperation with partners Samsung and Outside Broadcast, the operator has shot the first match in 3D.
This morning, Kris Vervaet, VP Marketing & Channel Management, and Jean-Charles De Keyser, VP Integrated Media Unit, are showing the results to a selected audience in the Belgacom Tower in Brussels.
If the result is satisfactory, Belgacom has said it could decide to offer 3D coverage during the next season. Furthermore, Belgacom TV has confirmed that new set-top boxes are already compatible with 3D.
Belgacom TV is the sole rights holder of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, which it exclusively markets to its IPTV subscribers.
