Swiss launch DTT consultation

The Federal Office of Communications (BAKOM) has launched a consultation into DTT services in Switzerland.

The regulator wants to explore market interest both among service operators and potential broadcasters. Currently only channels from the public broadcaster SRG SSR idée suisse are available on the country’s DTT system.

Following the consultation the regulator will assess whether there is sufficient spectrum for licences to be allocated directly or whether it will be necessary to advertise the available frequencies more widely.

Interested parties can submit their responses up to May 12, 2010.
