Preliminary figures announced by the German cable operator Kabel BW at a press conference show that its turnover rose by 13% from €438 million to €493 million in 2009. EBITDA meanwhile rose by 29% from €190 million to reach €245 million.
Harald Rösch, chairman of the board of Kabel BW, said the company is now fully on track, offering all customer 100 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 broadband access. By the end of May, 7.7 million people in the state of Baden-Württemberg will have access. At the moment, 22.8% of its 2.8 million TV customers buy additional services such as telephony and broadband access. There are now 525,000 CleverKabel customers.
Rösch also said its VOD service will be launched in Q3 2010 and there will be a push on HD. “We want to be the leader in HD and offer the widest choice of channels in Germany.” As part of the ongoing investments in the network, Kabel BW plans to bring fibre direct to the home in newly-built areas.
