Spanish DTH platform Digital+ has continued on its torrid run with a further fall in subscriber numbers. The Astra-Hispasat delivered service lost 53,411 subscribers in the fourth quarter to reach 1,845,805. It is two years since a subscriber increase was last recorded and comes against a background of heavy competition and high unemployment rates.
Owners Prisa reported subscriber revenues of €1002.04 million while the average revenue per subscriber stood at €41 per month, an increase on the €39.3 of Q3 2009, though still behind the €44.5 of 12 months ago. The drop is due largely to a decline in PPV revenues.
Canal+ Liga, the new football channel launched in August, had almost 700,000 subscribers as of December 31, 2009.
