The Polish incumbent telco TP saw a three fold increase in its TV subscriber base in 2009, ending the year with a combined total of 372,000 IPTV and DTH customers. Just 12 months earlier, the figure had stood at only 113,000.
Although its IPTV service has started to pick up after a slow start (109,000 subscribers in Q4 2009, as opposed to 69,000 a year earlier), the real growth was in the telco’s TV over satellite operation. Ending 2008 on 44,000, the figure stood to 176,000 as of December 31, 2009.
The good performance of TP’s TV services helped its broadband customer total grow by 8.4% in 2009.
The telco’s revenues in 2009 amounted to PLN16,560 million (€4,172 million), 8.8% down on the previous year. EBITDA meanwhile fell by 16.5% to PLN6,279 million.
