TV4 Fakta is to launch a version in the Norwegian market on March 22. The documentary channel is run by Sweden’s TV4 Group and already reaches 1.9 million households in Sweden and a further 300,000 in Finland. Distribution in Norway has been secured on Canal Digital, over both cable and satellite, with the station broadcasting around the clock.
“This is a large, but natural step in our ambition to grow in the Nordic countries,” said Cecilia Beck-Friis, general manager of TV4 Group’s niche channels. “Large because the channel is a welcome addition to the Norwegian choice of channels and will directly reach out to so many people. Natural because it’s a clear part of our strategy.”
TV4 Group already runs four niche channels in Finland, while its sci-fi channel is available in Norway. It also runs Canal+ in the Nordic region and last summer launched Canal9 in Denmark.
