Following an agreement with RTL Deutschland, the German cabler Telecolumbus has started to carry the two RTL HD channels on its network. RTL HD and Vox HD are available on most of the operator’s networks across the country.
The two channels will be part of the basic HD offer DigitalTV Basic of the cabler and provided to the viewer at no additional costs. The public channels Das Erste HD, ZDF HD and Arte HD are already part of the basic HD bouquet.
“The agreement with the RTL Germany Media Group demonstrates the technological and practical advantages of the cable not only for triple play and communication networks, but also in its core competence: television distribution,” said Telecolumbus managing director Dietmar Schickel in a statement.
Telecolumbus promises its customers it makes “concrete preparations” to increase the number of HD channels on its nets.
