Towercom to trial HD DTT

Slovakia’s new DTT platform, which is operated by Towercom, will undertake HD transmissions next month with the public broadcaster STV.

Quoted in Zive, Towercom’s marketing manager said they would take place in selected locations and offer coverage of the Winter Olympics.

The development is significant in that the Towercom platform, which has opted for MPEG-2 compression, will be using MPEG-4 for the first time.

Separately, Towercom has said it plans to launch at least six new DVB-T transmitters this March.
