The French premium TV reseller TV Numeric has agreed to acquire its rival TNtop TV, the French subsidiary of the UK’s Top Up TV. An agreement has been signed between Marc Olivier, CEO of TV Numeric and David Chance, chairman of Top Up TV.
Olivier said: “This acquisition will enable us to combine the expertise of both companies to provide the public with a comprehensive offering of digital terrestrial television market and prepare the launch of a Push-VOD service on DTT. TV Numeric will begin testing push-VOD in the regions of Rouen and Evreux on the multiplex GR1 in collaboration with TDF as a result of the authorization for that purpose by the CSA in December 2009.”
David Chance said: “This transaction will further consolidate the development of an offer based on the pay channels with a strong brand, Eurosport, Paris Première, Planète, LCI, TF6, TPS Star and the Canal+ 3 star service plus the innovative service of push-VOD.”
In order to boost subscriptions, the new combined operator will introduce a number of incentives to lure people into subscribing to the terrestrial pay channels.
