Showtime Arabia and Orbit are poised to announce a new on-air brand, Broadband TV News can confirm. From February 1 the combined pay-TV platform will be known as OSN – Orbit Showtime Network. An official statement is expected in the next few days with the new set-up expected to place an emphasis on high definition channels.
Last July’s merger brought together the Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO), which held 75.3% in Showtime Arabia, with Mawarid Group’s Orbit. The combined operation is believed to have in the region of 300,000 subscribers on Nilesat (seven degrees West) and Eutelsat’s Eurobird 2 (25.5 degrees East).
