CSA approves two push-VOD pilots

The French media authority CSA has approved two pilots for push-VOD services over the nation’s digital terrestrial network.

Transmitter company TDF is conducting two trails, one with the TV Numéric pay-TV platform and the other with a consortium of four broadcasters, TF1, France Télévisions, Arte and NRJ 12.

The CSA gives permission to run technical tests of the system on the condition that no so called ‘catégorie V’ programmes will be broadcast (programmes rated 18 years and older). Also, the authority has stressed that granting the permission to run the tests is no guarantee to receive a push-VOD licence.
