Latvia’s National Radio and TV Council (NRTP) has proposed postponing ASO in the capital, Riga, to April 1 next year.
At the same time, according to DB, it has suggested switch off takes place in other parts of the country before June 1.
The suggestion to put back switch off in Riga, originally set for March, was made on financial grounds and followed a meeting between the NRTP, Latvian State Radio and Television Centre (LVRTC) and Lattelecom, the operator of Latvia’s DTT network.
LVRTC has also made clear it will charge Viasat’s TV3 over LTL2 million (€2.8 million) should it wish to remain the only broadcaster in Latvia wishing to remain in analogue following ASO. It has stated its desire to do so until at least the end of next year.
