Andrew Barron is to take a step up to become Virgin Media’s chief operating officer. Barron joined Virgin Media from MTG’s Viasat Broadcasting in March 2008 and became the cablenet’s managing director of strategy. He subsequently took on a comprehensive reorganisation of the company’s customer operations and network teams.
“I am delighted to announce Andrew’s appointment to this key role within the senior management team,” said Neil Berkett, CEO of Virgin Media. “His strong leadership has contributed significantly to Virgin Media’s growth agenda and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity to accelerate the company’s transformation into the most customer focused organisation in the industry.”
Prior to joining MTG in 2002 Barron ran UPC Media’s fledgling video on demand business and developed Disney Channel’s European operations.
Barron will take up his new role on January 4, 2010.
