The first-ever live 3D broadcast at a major sporting event has taken place at the Cowboys Stadium in the US.
80,000 fans were given 3D glasses, and at the start of the second half of the Dallas Cowboys-San Diego Chargers football game, the giant centre hung display was converted from high definition 2D to a 3D view of both live action and instant replays. The display measuring 160 feet across and 72 feet high is the largest in the world.
The technology that made it all possible was supplied by New Jersey-based HDlogix and will be on public display at CES in Las Vegas next month.
The Cowboys lost 17-20.
