Boxee has finally released its official Beta version of the software that brings streaming video to multiple devices including TV sets. Until now, only an Alpha version was available.
However, Boxee Beta is not yet generally available and is only being offered in the next few weeks on an invitation-only basis. The general release will be on January 7th. At that time, Boxee is also expected to unveil its own set-top box to connect the TV set to the web.
Boxee completely re-designed the home screen to make it easier to navigate to your favourite content. The company blog explains: “We’ve pulled the menu out from the side and put it front and center. Below is your hub for recommendations and content; See recommendations from friends on boxee, Facebook or Twitter (Feed), recommendations from Boxee’s staff and partners (Featured) and the latest episodes from your favourite shows or things you’ve saved for later (Queue).”
