SatLink Communications and SES World Skies have announced the launch of a new DS3 fibre link connecting their teleport facilities. The new link allows SatLink client’s direct access to SES World Skies ‘ US satellite fleet while also enabling SES World Skies to further expand the reach of its satellites covering Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
For SES World Skies, the connection represents an additional means to extend the reach of SES’ satellite fleet in the growing Asian, Pacific, African, Middle Eastern and European markets. SatLink enhances its global distribution capabilities by linking its Israel-based teleport to the Americas through SES World Skies’ satellite fleet and augments its world-wide transmission capacity and global fiber network.
“We started working with SatLink in 1999 as a teleport partner. They have since successfully expanded their connectivity though other partner teleports and now to our Washington Mediaport,” stated Chris Schram, VP Platform Operations of SES World Skies. “This new link allows SatLink to expand its Video, Data and IP business links into the North American marketplace, while we benefit from a reliable and easily accessed path to SatLink facilities in other regions.”
