Romania’s incumbent telco Romtelecom gained more DTH and fixed line broadband subscribers than any other provider in the country in the first half of this year.
According to ZF, its satellite platform Dolce secured 137,000 of the 150,000 new DTH customers recorded in H1. All told, there were 2.3 million DTH customers in Romania as of the end of June.
OTE-backed Romtelecom also gained an additional 75,000 fixed line broadband subscribers in H1, as opposed to UPC’s 15,600.
Although other providers such as RCS/RDS and Akta did not provide figures for the period, they are estimated to have gained a combined total of around 50,000 more fixed line broadband subscribers.
