Slovakia’s incumbent telco T-Com has extended its FTTx network, offering digital TV and internet access of up to 80 Mbps, to the towns of Martine and Ziari nad Hrinom.

Orange TV introduces new hybrid boxes
The French IPTV operator Orange has announced the release of a new generation of hybrid IPTV boxes for its subscribers. To be introduced during 2010, the new box will incorporate a variety of tuners, including DVB-T MPEG-4, suitable for terrestrial HD reception and one with a satellite tuner.

Livestation has released version 3.0 of its latest desktop software for watching live news channels on the computer. People can now use Livestation as a native Twitter client to follow their friends and post tweets directly under the video window without having to switch applications.

Vivendi/Canal+ Group acquire remaining 9.9% from TF1
Vivendi/Canal+ Group have announced that they will acquire the remaining 9.9% that TF1 still holds in Canal+ France. The transaction, worth €744 million, will be closed before the end of this year.

BFM TV and Canal fight over ‘audience manipulation’
Alain Weill, president of the NextRadioTV group, owner of the French news channel BFM TV, has accused the Canal+ Group of trying to manipulate the audience in favour of the i-Tele news channel by having the CanalSat receivers automatically tune to their news channel.
