People + Arts will cease distribution in Spain and Portugal on January 8. The DTH platform Digital+ has already stopped carriage of the channel, while cabler ONO has announced it will end distribution at the end of this year.
On the remaining platforms in Spain and Portugal, including Imagenio, Telecable de Asturias, Grupo R, Euskatel, Tenaria and Auna, the channel will disappear on January 8, 2010.
In Portugal, the channel will be replaced by Discovery Travel & Living. No plans have been announced for the Spanish market.
People + Arts is a joint venture between the BBC and Discovery Networks.
