The Czech Republic will see the launch of a new thematic channel focusing on alternative films, minority sports and educational programming in the first half of 2010.
Parabola reports that the channel, known as Altema and operated by Altema TV Productions, will be initially available to 1.5 million homes. They will include those served by UPC, the country’s largest cable operator, and the DTH platform CS Link.
Altema, which will initially be on air for 16 hours a day, is expected to become profitable in its third year of operation.
