Hungary’s digital terrestrial service MinDigTV is growing in popularity, with the number of DVB-T MPEG-4 compatible receiver sales in October being 63% higher than in the previous month.
As of the end of last month, a total of 86,000 receivers had been sold – equivalent to 2.3% of all Hungarian households and 10.2% receiving terrestrial TV services. The improved figures can in part be explained by falling prices: the cost of MPEG-4 set-top boxes and integrated TV sets equipped with such tuners in October was 5% and 3% respectively lower than in September.
Moreover, since MinDigTV’s launch last December, the cost of reception equipment has fallen by an average of 55%. MinDigTV is operated by the national transmission company Antenna Hungária.
