The Spanish DTH platform Digital+ is launching a big marketing offensive to promote the 10 HD channels that are available from December 1st. New customers can buy an HD receiver for the discounted price of €149 and upwards, depending on the package they buy.
The move follows the introduction of five new HD channels on the platform (see Broadband TV News passim). The price drop is the second this quarter. In October the price of the iPlus satellite receiver was already decreased from €400 to €295. The iPlus box is a hybrid device, offering DTH and DTT reception and has a 160GB hard disk built in.
Customers have to subscribe to the HD option at a cost of €3 a month. However, subscribers to top tier products Premium Cinema, Sport or Premium Total Premium will receive the HD channels at no additional cost.
