ACC Convention – Bucharest. UPC has already secured 3,000 subscribers to its five-channel HD service in Romania, launched six weeks ago.
What is more, according to the company’s senior marketing manager Lucian Lupascu, 50% of the total have come to UPC from competitors.
Lupascu added that the take-up of HD sets is growing rapidly in Romania. A study under taken by Philips found there to be already 642,000 HD-ready and 78,000 Full HD sets.
Furthermore, it concluded that HD sets will account for 40% of the total in Romania by 2012.
UPC’s HD offer is already available in over 30 cities and will in due course be rolled out to more parts of the country.
