UPC has launched the catch-up TV service RTL gemist on its networks in The Netherlands. Programmes from RTL 4, 5, 7 and 8 can be requested up to ten days from the original broadcast date.
A special feature of the VOD service is Preview, in which people can watch – for payment – upcoming episodes of programmes before the actual broadcast. The Dutch drama series Voetbalvrouwen is the first to be offered in this way.
RTL Gemist is available to all 711,000 digital TV subscribers on the UPC network. News programmes such as RTL Nieuws, RTL Z and Editie NL are available free or charge; there is a fee for streams of other programmes including RTL Boulevard, Expeditie Robinson and reports on Europa League football games.
UPC already offers programmes from all three channels of the national public broadcasters in its Programma Gemist catch-up TV service.
