The Portuguese cable operator Cabovisão ended August with 102,753 subscribers, or 23,456 more than three months earlier.
Its basic cable subscriber total stood at 259,480 (-5,318) and it also had 143,614 (+1,430) high-speed internet customers, while the number receiving digital telephony was barely changed in the quarter at 226,528 (+862).
According to Cabovisão’s Canadian owner Cogeco, the disappointing subscriber figures were due to “a difficult competitive environment”, along with “recurring intense promotions and advertising initiatives from competitors for their respective third leg service in the Portuguese market.”
