The internet is set to become a key element in the Polish commercial broadcaster Polsat’s strategy over the next few years.
In a wide ranging interview with Gazeta Prawna, Marcin Pery, the president of Redefine, a company owned by Polsat’s founder a main shareholder Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, said that the aim is to differ from competitors by going down the multimedia route.
In practice this will involve offering programming over the web and could secure Polsat annual ad revenues of PLN100-120 million (€23.8-28.6 million) within the next four years.
To that effect, almost 20,000 hours of programming have already been prepared from archives for viewing on the internet.
