Spotify has announced a deal with the Swedish telco TeliaSonera that puts the music sharing website into the TV environment for the first time.
CEO Daniel Ek said the deal gave Spotify an entry point into hundreds of thousands of devices in Sweden. “Telia will bundle Spotify to its ISP and mobile clients. Not only that but they will also bundle Spotify into its set-top boxes from digital TV as well”.
TeliaSonera has around 532,000 IPTV subscribers in its home market of Sweden, where it is also the largest ISP and mobile telephony provider. It also has IPTV interests in Norway, Denmark, Lithuania and Estonia.
