Eighteen months after launch Portugal Telecom’s IPTV service Meo has passed 500,000 subscribers, the operator has announced, representing 64% of the telco’s ADSL customers. In the last quarter alone Meo has added 57,000 subscribers. The numbers also include the satellite service that is offered to customers in areas of poor ADSL connectivity.
Meo, which runs the Microsoft Mediaroom middleware, offers subscribers a 2,000 title video-on-demand library, catch-up TV, personal video recorder, gaming and access to personalised photo folders.
Marketing campaigns have continued to enjoy a high notoriety with proved ad recall stood above 60% and spontaneous ad recall above 40% at the beginning of October, ahead of the other brands in the market.
