Hungary’s main public broadcaster Magyar Televizió (MTV) has begun to transmit its second channel MTV2 free-to-air (FTA) in HD and SD on Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9A satellite.
This follows the creation of a consortium bringing together the Hungarian incumbent telco Magyar Telekom, teleport operator e-Vision and Eutelsat and signing of a multi-year contract by MTV following an open public procurement procedure.
MTV2 joins Hungary’s Hello HD satellite platform at the Eutelsat 9 degree East neighbourhood, where the number of channels has almost doubled to 245 over the lasst 12 months.
